Helix Stream and Meridian Merge in 74 Trillion Credit Deal
Toronto-based Helix Stream is acquiring Meridian Content Group in one of the largest entertainment consolidations in Earth9's history. The Culture Preservation Subcommittee has opened a formal pre-close review, citing concerns over ferry-culture film aesthetics.
The combined entity would control a significant share of Earth9's streaming and production infrastructure. The Culture Preservation Subcommittee's review is focused on whether local-content carve-outs can be negotiated before the deal closes. Ferry-culture film, which has developed a distinct visual and narrative tradition across Bay Area and coastal communities, is the primary focus of the subcommittee's concern. A full Council debate on media consolidation is expected before the end of the review period. No Echo numbers have been publicly attached to the review panel as of today.
