Gilgamesh Film Puts Prestige Allocation on Arts Board Agenda
Sable Okonkwo-Marsh's adaptation 'Between the Rivers' has dominated the Atlantic Film Circuit and the Council's Unified Streaming Platform this season, drawing renewed debate over which ancient cultural mythologies receive institutional amplification. The Arts Funding Review Board has added equitable prestige allocation to its Q3 agenda.
'Between the Rivers' is not the first film to raise this question, but it may be the most watched one to do so. Its success on the Unified Streaming Platform has given concrete shape to a long-running argument: that prestige resources tend to flow toward a narrow band of classical traditions, and that the Atlantic Film Circuit's curatorial choices reflect that bias. The Arts Funding Review Board will hear formal submissions before the end of September. Okonkwo-Marsh has not commented publicly on the policy dimension of the film's reception.
