Data Center Proposal Tests Oakland's Diverged Downtown Land Use
A developer has proposed a downtown Oakland data center in an urban core that developed without the heat-island effects associated with Nimitz-adjacent industrial blight, leaving the microclimate roughly 1.5 to 2.5 degrees Celsius cooler than comparable Earth reference conditions. Cooling and power planning will need to account for that divergence.
