Council Issues Safety Guidelines for Viral Endurance Events
After broadcaster Solvei Drang suffered a collapsed lung during a Solstice Plunge event, the Health and Recreation domain has released a liability and safety framework for large public endurance stunts. The advisory targets northern ferry communities where solstice plunge traditions originate.
The advisory does not ban solstice plunge events. It establishes a tiered safety marshal requirement based on expected attendance and water temperature conditions. Ferry operators who host or publicize plunge gatherings will be expected to register events above a certain size and confirm medical response capacity on-site. The Health and Recreation domain described the framework as designed to preserve the character of the tradition while reducing unmanaged risk at scale.
